McMurray Stern Awarded Santa Barbara Historical Society Museum Storage Solutions Contract
Spacesaver Powered Hi-Density Mobile System Selected For Collection Care Storage
Los Angeles CA - May 15, 2007- The Santa Barbara Historical Society has awarded their collection storage solution contract to McMurray Stern, the exclusive Spacesaver Area Contractor for the Greater Los Angeles, Riverside, Orange County and Central Coast Areas. Multiple storage solutions have been designed to include the work room vault, the library storage vault, the library reading room, and the fine art and map collection.
"We've noticed an increasing number of museums all over southern California are looking to us to design and build creative yet secure solutions for the storage of their collections," says Matt Denburg, COO & Principal of McMurray Stern. "I'm excited to see that the preservation of our cultural artifacts continues to be vital to our's and future generations."
The Museum, constructed in 1965 by the Santa Barbara Historical Society which was founded in 1932, has spent over three decades exhibiting the city's artistic and cultural heritage. Touring the Historical Museum enables visitors to see a wide array of unique artifacts, photographs, furnishings and textiles dating from the 15th century.
Santa Barbara 's rich multicultural history is represented with artifacts from Chumash, Spanish, Mexican, "Yankee" and Chinese culture. The Gledhill Library contains rare literary and visual documents including 50,000 historic photographs. Two early 19th century buildings, the 1817 Casa Covarrubias and the 1836 Historic Adobe are adjacent to the Museum.
